Addicted to Love

50 first dates kiss

I absolutely love romantic comedies – or “romcoms”. I love escaping into a fun romance that keeps me laughing the whole time.  So naturally, I have a very long list of movies that I find myself stopping whatever I am doing to watch or if I am having a bad day I pop one into the DVD player and instantly my mood is lifted. But today I am going to restrict myself to my top 10…

10. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

How fitting that this book would be number ten on my list. The chemistry between Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey is electric! They are sweet and sassy together and it’s one of those that makes my cheeks hurt from smiling so much.

9.  My Best Friend’s Wedding

This was one of my first favorite romcoms. I fell for Dermot Mulroney…hard. And even though I was a young teen when this came out, I watched it enough times to memorize the dance from the beginning song. Tell me you don’t love it!

8. The Princess Bride

This movie is one of the most quoted in my house. (Especially since the hubs is a huge Homeland fan.) The romance is brilliant and the characters are hilarious. This is a must have for any romcom fan.

7. 10 Things I Hate About You

10 things

I always enjoy watching a well-made Shakespeare remake. The cast is adorable and both the sisters have a swoonworthy romance. The final poem always reduces me to a blubbering mess.

6. Clueless

Since this movie came out it has been one of my favorites. I might be aging myself but step-brother (AKA Paul Rudd) is totally worth it. As a writer, I adore Cher’s transition throughout the film and I can watch this movie over and over to keep me entertained and fill myself up with the sweet romance.

5. Bridget Jones’ Diary

I recently read this book, but the movie has been one of my favorites for a while. I remember when it first came out I was OBSESSED with it. All of the actors were perfect for the roles and I found myself swooning over the romance and chemistry between the three leads. Definitely a must watch!

4. P.S. I Love You

P.S. I Love You

For those who don’t know me personally, don’t understand the insane (and sometimes unhealthy) obsession I have with Gerard Butler. When I heard he was going to be the lead in this movie I scooped up the book straight away. And even though the book and the movie are rather different, I absolutely adored both. But we’re talking about the movie here…although it was incredibly sad, I loved the moments of laughter and fun that the characters portrayed.

3. You’ve Got Mail

This is one of those “sick day” movies to snuggle into the couch with. I love the chemistry between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan! They are so sweet together and the cast is really fantastic.

2. Hitch

I love Kevin James and Will Smith’s “bro” chemistry on screen and there are so many hilarious moments I can’t help but put it high on my list. This is one movie I will watch to the end, down to the credits due to the wedding dance scene. Pretty much all the dance scenes in this movie make me giggle!

1. 50 First Dates

50 first dates

This movie (and Pride & Prejudice) gets the biggest eye roll from the hubs because every time it is on TV, the whole world disappears and I have to watch it until the end. I love the rollercoaster of emotions I go through. I mean what guy would make you fall for him every single day over and over? *swoons*

So there is my list! Are any of these in your Top Ten? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.
